Extension for EV use

Ive owned this product for nearly 3 years and in that time found to have performed quite well! However either with time or use as an extension for our ev charging, failure at the female end cord has caused overheating at the plug and what appears to be burning or dark marks within the clear material.I dont know the typical lifespan of of extension cords, but with the regular load through the cord, feels appropriate. For limited use and at lower demand applaiances would still recommend.

Great cable

The cable has great quality; it's sleek and looks modern. I use it to power my AC, and it works great. I love that it has a light, making it easy for me to see if power is running to it, and I love that it's compatible with my AC since my last cable would always cause a power issue because the AC was drawing too much energy for it to handle.

It is a heavy duty cord.

It’s a heavy duty cord, but as they state, “ its not for constant use 24 hrs a day for weeks or months.

Working great for charging EV

Purchased the 50ft cable to charge my EV from my apartment to the garage area of the building. This thing is BEEFY and doesn't even get warm to the touch after hours of charging. Seems excellent quality so far and I feel confident it will stand up to the load being put on it with my car.

Quality Cord

I was surprised by how good of quality this product is. The pictures don't do it justice. I realize its just an extension cord but you tell the difference in quality with this one. Shipping was fast as well!

Great heavy duty extension cord

Very well made with robust materials. Exactly the heavy duty cord I needed. I especially like the locking plug and the push button release. I used two of these and they wasily locked in place. When I was ready to put them away, a simple push of the button and they easily came unplugged.

Don't Use Anything Less Than Iron Forge Extension Cables

You're going to need a 10 gauge extension cable if you want to safely run appliances and tools with power ratings 1500 - 1850 watts. True, they are thick, heavy and, perhaps, to many, too ugly to use in the house. Iron Forge has a well earned reputation for making the best. With the lights in the ends you know right away if there is a problem with your plug and/or the cable which is a great safety feature. Remember when storing it to plug it's two ends together to protect it. 10 gauge extension cables are very difficult to find and they are expensive. However, they are worth every penny in savings for damaged appliances and tools. There is less power leakage so equipment runs smoother and more efficiently. Everyone should own 2 or 3 in various lengths. I not only strongly recommend them, but advise everyone to get them. Coupled with a number of 14 gauge extension cables (also by Iron Forge) to be used in less demanding situations you'll never have to worry about an extension cable getting too hot or catching fire. Throw away all your other cheap extension cables. They're dangerous.

Peace of mind

This is my diesel truck’s leash. It’s happy to be plugged in on cold nights and days too. I bought this because some outlet posts at my workplace function and some do not; having a lighted end showed me that power was available. This cord is large enough to handle large amp draw without worry. It gets a bit stiff at about 20F, but it’s worth the trouble to warm it up in the cab and then put it away under the seat.

Works for EV charging a Tesla off a 120V outdoor outlet

Bought this to reach an outdoor outlet to EV charge my Tesla and it works great. I connect the extension cord to my Tesla mobile connector and plug it into the car. It consistently draws 12A and the cord does not overheat or anything. If you're going to be using an extension cord for EV charging, it's recommended that you get at least a 12-gauge cord. This is even better at 10-gauge just for that added peace of mind that nothing will ever fritz out on the outlet you rely on to charge your car.Keep in mind that if you're using it outdoors and your outlets aren't weatherproofed with cover guards, your car might not charge when there's too much moisture outside or when it's raining/overcast. This is not the cord's fault, it's just that there's a built-in failsafe on the Tesla which won't draw power if it detects that there's too much moisture in the air around it. The mobile connector lights will flash red on the "T" part of the logo, which means it's not safe to draw power at the moment.

If you need a 10 gauge cord this is the one to get

I'm not sure how to leave a review for an extension cord ... But here's mine. I'm going to write this review more for the average person... Not for an electrician or Tradesmen who knows exactly what they're looking for and why they need it. If you fall into that category here's all you need to know , you will not find a lower price 10 gauge hundred foot cord for Less. These are well made and last 4 years with outdoor use. For everyone else here's what you need to know, if you've ever flip the breaker when your air compressor turns on or pulled a Griswold and Plugged In Too Many Lights outside most people think it's the breaker but what causes the failure and ultimately damage to your equipment is using the wrong gauge wire. Gauge refers to the thickness of The Wire oh, a run-of-the-mill extension cord might be 16 gauge or 12 or 14 a 10 gauge wire is pretty close to industrial-grade. If you have even an average sized air compressor in your garage chances are it chugs a little bit when you turn it on it first and then it kicks on full boar. What's happening is electricity is not reaching the electric motor at its required rate and the motor is struggling to turn on. Believe me when I tell you this will burn out your expensive equipment. Having at least one 10 gauge extension cord accomplishes two things ... you protect your equipment at startup and you experienced far less line volt drop. The ladder is what happens when you try to run too many extension cords together , the wire just can't handle the distance and It ultimately affects your circular saw or whatever it is you're trying to use. I learned this the hard way on a $700 Pond de-icer years ago which is why I'm leaving this review. Had I known that the gauge of the cord would protect the electric motor I never would have bought " heavy duty" 12 gauge extension cords. Not spending $100 for the correct cord cost me $700 in equipment and then I had to buy the court anyway and a new deicer. Bottom line This is an excellent outdoor extension cord and it does exactly what the seller advertises. What they don't get into is why you need it and not everyone shopping on Amazon knows exactly what they're looking for. That's why we rely on reviews. Good luck
